BIG BONED! THIS WILL BE PHAT!!

Two Trombone players walk into a bar. We can’t drink alone, let’s get more Trombone players down here.

After the sold out show at last years festival, the bar manager let us store our trombones out the back for round two.

The sweet sounding and dexterous 1948 NY Bach 6 Trombone of Kaito Walley with the chainsaw like tone of Damian Forlong’s 1977 Jiggs Whigham King 2b blend together like a G&T, a bogan and coke or a shandy.

Playing hard swinging classics and blues made famous by JJ Johnson and Kai Winding and a selection of tunes showcasing this most noble, beautiful, awe inspiring, beautiful, preferred by the God’s and Darth Vader of instruments.

Every Trombone player from the length and breadth of the city has been invited to play for the grand finale of this show for a mass (bunch? Gaggle? Herd? Stampede? ) of Trombone thunder.

If you don’t like the Trombone, it’s worth going just to hear the band featuring the who’s that of the Wellington Jazz scene.

John Rae - drums
Patrick Bleakley - bass
Ben Wilcock - piano
